Madeline de Leon

Functional Wellness Specialist

Madeline graduated from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in 2013 and has since gained extensive experience in the natural product, fitness and nutraceutical industries, with a focus on interpreting supplement science.

Always a creative problem solver, Madeline's German and Filipino heritage had always encouraged food as medicine, igniting her passion for nutrition and herbalism at a very young age. Her Oma planted an abundant medicinal garden and would pull over on the side of the road to pick wild St. John’s Wort or mushrooms. When her Lola would come to visit, she would cook dishes with a rainbow of colours and flavours impossible to find in her small town.

Her health struggles began in infancy. On a mission to heal herself, she had set her sights on a career in medicine. While in university her illness was at its peak. With each new symptom, additional medication was prescribed. After realizing this was not sustainable she sought out alternatives, exploring multiple modalities that caused her treatment plan to pivot and subsequently her education to integrative medicine.

She is now the healthiest she has ever been. She wants to encourage you to get curious about what healthy looks like for you and is here to help when you are ready. Outside of Maka, you will find her offline, hanging with her rescue dog, baking cookies and laughing until her face hurts. She lives for a dip in freshwater as long and as often as Mother Nature allows and impromptu road trips.
